Preview: Project Big Kahuna - A Better Tomorrow

It's a bit of a risk for me showing off WIP pages of Project Big Kahuna, as so far all I've previewed are but mere art samples, but Project Big Kahuna is all about the risks.

So here's an actual 98% completed page for all you loyal readers, followers, and the curious alike. I would say the project is barely scratching the surface in terms of rate of progress, but progress is ongoing. Stay tuned!

Note: All illustration work depicted here is fan art and all fan supplement rules are completely unofficial and in no way endorsed by Games Workshop Ltd.

  3. It's going to be excellent when it's done. Are you just doing the codex, or are you planning to build an army to go along with it?

  4. A bit of both actually!

I would describe it as a plug-in supplement to the existing IG codex. Think of it as a document that extra characters that I believe should've made the cut. :)

Not that it's aiming too low being in-line with the current GW design ethos of developing characters to personalise one's army, I also intend to have a couple of tricks and surprises to push the boat out. If I can convince my group to playtest it!

I'm still pulling together materials for model-making a squad or two that can complement my existing Cadian 512th forces. I've actually found that bit to be the hardest bit so far. Stay tuned!

  5. Love it!

This is very well done, I must say.

Am I right in noting that if Heisen has 'Stubborn' then it's not worth giving it to his command squad who'll benefit from his rule anyway?

  6. Heisen's 'Hard-boiled' is modelled after Straken's "Gung-ho" rule, reflecting that his Command Squad will still operate under the same rules as the character (e.g. they'll still be Stubborn if Heisen dies for whatever reason, as he's handpicked his team somewhat resembling his temperament and character). Of course, this may all well change once the playtest version is released, and is tweaked and re-costed in terms of points.

So yes Admiral Drax, you are right! But only if Heisen remains alive... :)

I know I've been a naughty boy not putting the calculated points values so one can cast a real good look at how the rules operate, so that day will come soon I promise (e.g. under a series of 'Designer's Notes' blog posts).

Until then, all I can do is hint and tease. And speaking of tease, look at the WD Chapter Approved: Kill team article available on the forgeworld website to see where all this inspiration comes from.
