Going Bananas?

Look wot I found:

Image copyright - Dinky Delights

Found this on the interwebs, link here. Dinky Delights are a UK-based online shop that does 1:12 scale doll miniature accessories. Have ordered one meself, so give 'em a visit!

Jokaero objective counter, anyone? They'd be bigger than 28mm scale, but who cares! This would give the xenos space monkies sufficient motivation to throw their lot in with those Radical Inquisitors... Hmmm...

Meanwhile, here's an image from good old googlesearch, featuring the legendary 'Barrel of Monkeys' army (e.g. Codex: Jokaero, take Coteaz, spam Weaponsmiths in Chimeras, with converted Stormraven), by turbommx, for you to admire and worship:

 That is all.

CONCEPT ARTWORK - Once You Heresy You Cannot UnHeresy: Chaos Edition!

Part 2 of the heretical concept art theme that is "Hey Kids, lets Play 40k!", this time with extra-Chaos flavour as a treat for all you enthusiasts of the Ruinuous Powers. As before, click to embiggen!

Also click on my deviantart profile for the original-sized version of the artwork (re-sized so you can read the enclosed internal memos) and also for more information, if you're curious as to how the idea came about especially on the subconscious thought processes involved.

Disclaimer: All graphic likenesses and copyrights held by original owners, used flagrantly without permission for the sake of satirical parody, no intent to profit from the use/abuse of such copyright, etc, etc.

CONCEPT ARTWORK - Once You Heresy You Cannot UnHeresy

You lucky readers, I bring you the original full-sized version of the smuggled concept artwork I snuck out from the GW Design Studio, including handy memos which might've been too small to read...

(or am I presenting to you all photomanip fan parody artwork that might be too hot to handle?...)

Click to embiggen! You were warned!

What if Games Workshop made Blood Bowl 40K?

"Johann Richter of the Cadian Castellans successfully grabs the Power Sphere! But beware, xenos scum aren't far behind!"

I love WH40k. I love Blood Bowl. How about Blood Bowl 40K?

(and no, I don't mean Mantic's Dreadball smartypants! It's a pity grim and gritty 40k has had all it's humour sucked out of it. Ah well...)

How about some American Football-style team names?

Imperial Guard - The Cadian Castellans!
Space Marines - The Ultramar Saints!
Orks - The Octarius Raiders!
Eldar - The Biel-Tan Broncos!
Dark Eldar - The Commorragh Chargers!
Tau - The D'yanoi Dolphins!
Necrons - The Pavonis Pharoahs!
Tyranids - The Charybdis Kaijus!
Chaos - The Prospero Patriots!

Etc, etc...

More information here, along with usual disclaimers e.g. copyrights & trademarks used completely without permission, yadda, yadda. It's a parody piece of box-set artwork for everyone's amusement, is all...

Also: Please excuse the lack of Squats. They would make a great Blood Bowl 40k team though!

Addendum 08/11/13: Many thanks to Bell of Lost Souls for featuring the photomanip artwork on their facebook photos timeline. Great reading all the comments, feedback & discussion generated, much appreciated - I only wish to brighten up everyone's day with a smile! :)

An Extra Daemonhammer - Fun with Spare Bitz

I've been playing around with the spare bitz in my bitz box, and I don't think anyone needs reminding on how versatile and fun the Grey Knights plastic kit has been (has it really been 2 years and a new edition now since the codex has been released?).

Crusader WIP

Following on from my previous theme of 40k artwork-inspired model building, I present to you my latest inspiration piece:

Warrior Acolyte WIP

The power of 40k artwork shall never be underestimated! On many occassions flipping through various 40K codices, one gravitates towards the dark gothic 40K artwork that abound and sometimes one thinks: "Wouldn't that make a great model to create, paint and play on a 40k table?".

Scanners: Their Thoughts Can Kill!

Guess wot? I’ve started a new army for this new 2013. After almost 2 years playing an all-Grey Knight army in various guises (Mordrak Bomb, Draigowing, Thawnwing, etc) I’ve opted to bolster my collection by playing the Inquisitorial Daemonhunters faction, a.k.a Coteaz-wing. By taking Coteaz as HQ, this unlocks Inquisitorial options as troops.

Vin Diesel 40K: Riddick 28mm Miniature Kitbash

I've always liked the movie Pitch Black, the Chronicles of Riddick maybe not so much despite it being the closest live-action 40k-esque movie out there at the moment, disregarding Starship Troopers.

The big draw of these movies is the one and only Riddick, as portrayed by mousy, wallflower geek-actor Vin Diesel. With the impending release of yet-another sequel due late-2013, I thought it fitting to work up a new addition to my existing armies, be it Imperial Guard, Grey Knights, etc. Thank you 6th edition allies rules!

Piece of the Puzzle

I’ve been busy scouring the Internet, trawling over at the Bay of Ecstasy and rummaging through the piles of bitz websites to put together my vision of Grandmaster Mordrak, the Haunted Knight.

Wednesday Night Gaming: 3-Player Campaign

Here at Wednesday Night Gaming, we’re big fans of the Broken Alliance 3-player battle setup, as there are 3 of us in the group, this being me (Imperial Guard, Grey Knights), Dougie (Orks, Chaos Space Marines) and Laur (Space Marines, Tau, Tyranids).

While in most of our games 2 of us face off, with the odd one out invigilating, setting up the terrain and/or doing some painting on the sidelines and resolving rules queries, but all in all we do enjoy the anarchy and fun factor when it comes to the brilliant 3-player battles, especially the randomised game turn which is prone to abuse, with hilarious results.

Lately we’ve been noticing something missing in our games. We’ve been busy playing each other, adapting, list tailoring, but we’ve noticed a stagnation, a lack of development if you will.

MORDRAK’S GHOST KNIGHTS – AN EASY TUTORIAL TO MODELLING/PAINTING

If I'm completely honest, the one unit that sold me to play the Grey Knights is Grandmaster Mordrak, and his Ghost Knights.

Mordrak is a real standout unit in the Grey Knight Codex, a real boon to all old and new Grey Knight players alike. There is nothing quite like him in any other codex, and everything about Mordrak really clicks for me: from the fluff perspective (vengeful, haunted Knight of Mortain out to get his arch-nemesis, Huron, with psychic manifestations of his guilt / actual ghosts?), rules perspective (Ghostly Bodyguard for the win!) the gameplay perspective (First to the Fray and Grand Strategy really appeal to the Deep Striker in me!), and most importantly for me, the modelling perspective.

Modelling perspective? But wait, GW hasn’t released actual models for Mordrak. Perhaps during the 2nd wave?

AYO GORKHALI 40K!

Better to die than live a coward - Gurkha saying
Further to my last post, here are the initial mock-ups of my counts-as Gurkha conversions, using the assembled kit of parts (dark elf daggers, cadian bodies, Catachan vox backpacks, some alien suns arms, and maxmini Anzac heads). I think they’re looking pretty sweet!

GURKHA 40k?

Bought myself some Anzac (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) heads from maxmini.eu, courtesy of wargamersworld.com, and am very pleased with my purchase, for you see I fancied making myself 40k-counterparts of the Gurkhas to scour the battlefields of the 41st millennium! (For those not in the know as to the fearsome reputation of the Gurkhas, please see here, here and here).

Spec Ops: Killzone – Artwork (Cover)

The completed cover, featuring an Imperial Guard Stormtrooper Kill-Team (the classics, not Kasrkins which I'm equally fond of, nor the moon-suits, which I detest), for your enjoyment!

I also intend to start work on a new piece of art, as a contribution to the ongoing Spec Ops: Killzone project. Watch this space!

Note: All illustration work depicted here is fan art which is completely unofficial and in no way endorsed by Games Workshop Ltd.
